La personalità eccentrica di Enzo Mari lascia un’impronta, non solo nel modo di pensare, ma anche nel modo di guardare il mondo. “25 modi per piantare un chiodo” stimola una riflessione analitica sul contesto sociale e culturale in cui viviamo. Spinge ad interrogarsi sui possibili scenari futuri, sul ruolo odierno del progettista, su come ripensare al medium del libro. E in qualche modo, suggerisce di andare contro corrente.
L’individuo medio, con apparente velocità e minor sforzo macina parole, leggendo attraverso un nuovo formato: lo schermo di uno smartphone. Quale sarà il futuro dell’editoria? Uno studio condotto da Maryanne Wolf, neuroscienziata cognitiva che insegna all’University of California a Los Angeles, ci rivela che di una storia letta su uno schermo ricordiamo meno dettagli, e anche la comprensione è inferiore, benché si abbia la sensazione di sapere di più.
Il progetto rappresenta l’idea di voler comunicare con il lettore, proponendo un formato di 7,6 x 14 cm, la media tra le dimensioni di smartphone attualmente più diffusi e disponibili in commercio.
Sarà proprio il vecchio libro stampato a diventare, attraverso questo nuovo formato smartphone, un simbolo di protesta alla società attuale.

Enzo Mari's eccentric personality leaves an imprint, not only in the way of thinking, but also in the way of looking at the world. "25 ways to hammer a nail" stimulates an analytical reflection on the social and cultural context in which we live. It prompts questions about possible future scenarios, about today's role of the designer, about how to rethink the medium of the book. And in some way, it suggests going against the current.
The average person, with apparent speed and less effort grinds words, reading through a new format: the screen of a smartphone. What will be the future of publishing? A study conducted by Maryanne Wolf, a cognitive neuroscientist who teaches at the University of California at Los Angeles, reveals that we remember fewer details of a story read on a screen, and comprehension is also lower, although we feel we know more.
The project represents the idea of wanting to communicate with the reader, proposing a format of 7.6 x 14 cm, the average size of the most popular smartphones currently available on the market.
It will be just the old printed book to become, through this new smartphone format, a symbol of protest to the current society.
